In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, I, Grand Župan Stefan, together with my children, swear to the Ragusan prince Giovanni Dandolo and to the whole commune of the city of Dubrovnik, by God and the Holy Mother of God, and by the Honourable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, and by the Holy Gospels, and by the Holy Twelve Apostles, and by the Holy Forty Martyrs, and by the 318 Holy Fathers.
I swear to you, without any deceit whatsoever, that I and my children are your friends, so long as you are sincere.
And if any enemy of yours should flee to my land, I shall surrender him to you if he should cause you any harm from my land.
And your people shall travel through my land with their merchandise without any fear, and no violence shall be done to them, but they shall sell and buy freely; and whatever is due to me according to the merchant law of my land, they shall give me.
And a Serb shall not prosecute a Vlach without a trial; but if any injustice is committed between the City and my land, the judges shall meet wherever the law prescribes, and they shall pass judgment, and there shall be no forcible seizure of property.
But if I break this oath, may God and the Holy Mother of God judge me.
